December 23rd, 2020, at 4 pm, I was badly hit by another period cramp. I reached out to my “lifesaver” – 400 mg of Ibuprofen, and it didn’t do its job properly this time.
I was crying in agony, wishing the pain can go away.
After 30 mins, no effects from the painkiller. After 1 hour, it went worse, the pain expanded to the upper abdomen, and I started to feel nauseous and some heartburns. After another few hours, I even experienced headache, fever, and a few other unpleasant symptoms.
On the night of the 24th, I was still lying on the bed, with sharp pain and some miserable thoughts. “I am not going to the hospital on Christmas Eve!” I swore to myself.
Fortunately, my immune system started to fight back after another few hours. The waves of pain hit me a bit less frequently.
On Christmas day, I finally managed to stand up. I was there with my family during the Christmas meal. They were having smoked salmon and stuffed turkey, and I was enjoying a cup of warm ginger tea.
“I must do something to fix this f* cramp, to fix my messed-up hormone!” I told myself. And that was the moment I decided to try a plant-based diet.
