I am going to share with you a very tasty way of cooking rice. You won’t believe how magical the taste can be simply combining rice with garlic and parsley.

This dish is so easy that anyone can do well and it’s very fast to cook. The garlic parsley rice can either be served as a simple meal or a side dish.

Let’s get started!

You only need three ingredients – pre-cooked rice, garlic, and parsley. I usually use sushi rice for this dish because I love its round and subtly sweet taste, but it’s totally fine to use other types of white rice.

How to Make Fried Garlic Rice with Parsley?

You will need some finely minced garlic and parsley.

Parsley smells so good. Every time I chop it, it reminds me of the Mediterranean Sea. I like to put a lot of parsley for this dish. But it’s fine to reduce the amount to your taste.

That’s all you need to prepared! After having the garlic and parsley chopped and the rice cooked.

It’s time to pan fry them all together.

The key to this dish is to NOT burn the garlic! When the garlic is in such small pieces, it’s very easy to get overcooked. And when it is overcooked, it has a bitter taste that can ruin the whole dish.

You will need 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil. Just enough oil to kind of cover the garlic.

Put the minced garlic in the cold oil. And turn the heat over low to medium.

In this way, the garlic will be cooked slowly and gently and it prevents it from getting burned.

You should keep an eye on the garlic because this process is fast.

When 60% of the garlic pieces start to turn golden, you can start to put the rice.

Note:
All the minced garlic won’t turn golden at the same time. So, if you wait for all of them to get golden, then some of them are already over-cooked.

After putting in the rice, quickly stir them so that the garlic is not being continuously cooked at the bottom and it can wrap around the rice.

Lastly, let’s add all the chopped parsley. Stir them and keep cooking for 3-4 minutes until the parsley gets somewhat soft.

You can add flavors, spices, or herbs to your liking during this time. I usually just add some salt and black pepper and it’s totally enough to make this a very tasty dish.

A Secret Tip:
Cooked garlic will greatly reduce its flavor, which is good because it makes sure the dish is not too spicy. But for people who really like the garlicky taste, like me, you can add a piece of smashed raw garlic at the very end.

Done! Simple, aromatic garlic rice with parsley. It tastes amazing by itself and it goes well with many dishes. For example, for some of the vegan meals, I like to have it with a homemade vegetable stew.

This stew is actually very easy to do as well and I’ve made a video about it. I will leave a link below for those of you who are interested.

Bon Appetit !
